Louis Contino President
Louis Contino attended Stony Brook University, where he studied business, and SUNY Farmingdale, where he studied landscape architecture. In 1978, he formally launched Louis Contino Landscaping, Inc. He took the industry by storm with custom designs that are innovative, eye-catching and enjoyable, which quickly gained the recognition of industry professionals. At age 28, he became the youngest designer ever to win the New York State Nursery Landscape Association’s Grand Prize, and has since added numerous awards in Long Island and statewide and national competitions.
While he’s grown his company into one of the region’s top design/build firms, Louis’ education has never stopped. He continually attends seminars and workshops to keep abreast of developments in the field, and maintains close relationships with suppliers to stay aware of new and innovative products and materials. A native Long Islander, he lives in Huntington with his two children, and takes pleasure in making neighbors’ homes more beautiful every day.

Behind the Louis Contino philosophy are years of experience and a staff of professional designers, draftsmen and craftsmen, each working to assure your dreams become reality. After initial consultations with a homeowner, plans for smaller projects may be drawn on the spot, while larger projects go to the design team. Where construction is involved, the company has professional engineers design the specifications to assure strength, quality and stability. As a result, the company offers some of the longest warranties in the industry.
Louis Contino’s custom designs incorporate an extensive knowledge of plants, shrubs and trees, with an eye toward creating maximum color and beauty year-round. Designed to be low maintenance yet long-lasting, each is expertly installed, carefully watched and, yes, maintained indefinitely by Louis Contino professionals.
Louis Contino grows much of the plant materials used in his custom designs but will scour the country to find the perfect plant. A single job may involve materials from 20 different nurseries. Louis Contino maintains close working relationships with suppliers of construction materials, often ordering stone direct from quarries to get exactly what is needed.
